I got an Echo for Xmas and of course the first thing I had to do was ask it for my type of business. I was happy to find that once I added my address, we came up as number one (we are only a mile away). At a talk I went recently, the speaker asked, "How do we optimize for this" showing a photo of Alexa. I think it uses Bing but haven't really researched it. If Echo takes off, there may be more reason to optimize for that system.

I don't know anything about internet and social media marketing but I have been wondering about something for a long time. I have noticed that some business Facebook posts get an insane amount of comments and I don't understand why. For example, I get posts from "Amazingly Cat" in my Facebook feed. It is a company that "sells" cat supplies (they actually just drop ship from Ali Baba and other cheap Chinese companies). A recent post by them about a cat litter mat has 11K comments. I looked at some of the comments and it seems like the company responds to most comments so 1/3 to 1/2 of that number of comments may be the company response. Still, 6K of comments about a cat litter mat is crazy to me.

I won't argue against any of those (though I'm not sure VR will be as mainstream by next Christmas as the tech blogosphere is prognosticating), but I will argue that none of them will have a big impact on how we do web marketing.
